Faith, Prayer, and Personal Revelation: Post 2 in Series

Personal Revelation is the way we come to know for ourselves important spiritual matters such as 1) the truth that God exists, 2) that he our Father in Heaven-the Father of our spirits, 3) that Jesus Christ is his son and the only begotten son in the flesh, 4) That Jesus Christ is our Savior, who paid the price for our sins so that we could return to live with him and our Father in Heaven some day, 5) that we were given to Jesus Christ by God the Father, 6) that we can belong to Christ and his family if we chose to follow him, 7) that God has not left us alone without sources of knowledge about him, and 8) that God continually teaches us in his way about who he is, who we are, and how we can be happy during our life and after we die on this earth.

It is through personal revelation that we come to understand what eternal life is and why it says in John 17:13 (King James Version of the Holy Bible), "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent". We will recieve personal revelation, that feeling in our heart and mind that we know something to be true that we can not see, as we center our lives on faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. It is important to remember that Faith in Jesus Christ involves doing the things he has taught us to do. As we exercise our faith in Jesus Christ and give heed to the Spirit of God we can know what is true regarding all things good and of God. It is through the Spirit of God that God teaches us all things which are good and true (See 1 Corinthians 2: 3-10 at http://scriptures.lds.org/1_cor/2// ).

If something is true and our hearts are open, due to a sincere desire to know truth while living the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ, The Spirit of God will confirm in our hearts that something is true. Without faith in Jesus Christ, and the exercise of that faith, we are limited in our ability to recognize, hear, understand, believe, and act upon the truths that are personally revealed to us through The Spirit of God.
